VAE – Consolidating prior learning
VAE, or Validation des Acquis et de l’Expérience, is an alternative to initial training. It is aimed at those who can prove that they have sufficient professional experience to qualify for a diploma. Find out everything you need to know about this training path and how Sup de Pub can help you achieve your goal.
What is VAE?
VAE (Validation des Acquis et de l’Expérience) is a way of obtaining certification by having your skills recognised. This process enables you to use the experience you have acquired to transform it into a qualification, certification or diploma. The result of the Social Modernisation Act of 17 January 2002, it is ideal for career development or reorientation, without having to study.
Who is it aimed at?
VAE is open to salaried and non-salaried employees, volunteers and public servants with one year’s professional experience. This experience must be related to the RNCP qualification that you are studying for. There are no restrictions on age, nationality, level of training or status. Only the experience gained counts.
Who is financing it?
VAE is a training action within the framework of vocational training. Various costs and services, such as the study of admissibility, support and the validation session, accompany this process.
The cost of VAE depends on the level of the RNCP qualification concerned:
- RNCP level 6 qualification: €3,800 net of tax
- RNCP level 7 qualification: €4,800 net of tax
These costs may be partially or fully covered by the following organisations:
- The Professional Training Account (CPF)
- The employer (via own funds, a skills development plan, OPCOs or via the FNE)
- France Travail
- The Regional Council, thanks to the VAE Passport
The advantages of validating prior learning
Validation of prior learning has many advantages. This training pathway allows experience to be recognised without going through a traditional curriculum. It is particularly suitable for adults, whether in employment or not, who are unwilling or unable to go back to school. VAE recognises skills acquired on the job. It enables you to obtain a diploma, or to gain easier access to a position or to progress within your job.
Validation of prior learning is therefore an ideal springboard for those who want to enhance their employability, change career direction and access opportunities that are more in line with their skills and ambitions.
The stages of VAE with Sup de Pub
Sup de Pub enables you to validate your skills to obtain one of our RNCP-registered qualifications. The VAE procedure and support are both provided via the Sup Career school, which specialises in continuing education and is also part of the OMNES Education group.
Candidates for VAE must go through several major stages:
We’ll put you in touch with a VAE advisor, who will support you throughout the process. We’ll advise you and tell you about the qualifications available and the costs involved. Finally, we can help you find the right funding for your status.
Booklet 1 is the admissibility file. This document is used to determine whether the candidate’s experience is consistent with the qualification or diploma in question. Several supporting documents must be attached to the application. Applicants are notified of their eligibility within one month of submitting the application.
Booklet 2 is the document to be completed and added to the dossier. The aim is to provide proof of prior learning, by answering a series of questions and presenting concrete evidence. We can provide you with 20 hours of support, spread over 6 months, to help you understand the reference framework and put together a solid application.
Candidates must appear before a jury within two months of submitting their application. The jury is made up of one person from our school and two external people representing the sector. The oral presentation is based on the dossier submitted by the candidate. The panel asks questions to assess the candidate’s skills and find out more about their motivations. Validation may be partial or total. In the event of partial validation, the panel issues a certificate attesting to the components acquired and suggests one or more ways for the candidate to obtain full validation. It also reserves the right to invalidate the process. Reasons for the decision are always given in writing.
