Civics and video games : Reinventing the codes

Training

Sup de Pub students, mainly in M1 Art Direction and Copywriting, took part in this innovative project. Their training enabled them to combine strategic thinking and creativity to respond to a complex social issue linked to video games and online citizenship.

The project

The “Civics and video games: reinventing the codes” program mobilised students around an ambitious objective: to design a national digital campaign to promote a code of good conduct for gamers, applicable in immersive online spaces. Under the guidance of Hannah Ben Meyer, Pierre Belin and the DILCRAH, the participants worked in collaborative design with associations, gamers and public and private players.

Challenges met

The students faced a number of challenges in this major project.

  • Analysing online behaviour to gain a better understanding of civic-mindedness issues in video games.
  • Structuring and prioritising ideas in collaborative workshops.
  • Devising a code of conduct that is suitable for gamers and that can be adapted to different digital environments.
  • Propose a hard-hitting digital activation to encourage players to sign up.
  • Working with a variety of partners to integrate multiple perspectives.

Rendering

The end result is a structured and creative code of conduct, developed by the students, and an inspiring digital campaign. This activation aims to encourage players to adopt civic behaviour in their online interactions, using attractive visuals and engaging messages.

The role of the school

Sup de Pub offered an ideal educational framework for this project, integrating workshops, collaborative methodologies and external partnerships. The students benefited from high-quality support to develop creative and strategic solutions in response to a major societal challenge.
