An MSc (Master of Science) is a 5-year degree awarded by business or engineering schools, and taught in English. It focuses on advanced specialization, generally in fields such as management, finance or technology. This diploma is particularly attractive to international students, thanks to its worldwide recognition.
The MSc is distinguished by its international orientation, English-language courses and focus on specific, often technical or professional skills. By contrast, a traditional Master’s degree, delivered by universities, may be more generalist and is mostly taught in French in France. The MSc is often perceived as being more oriented towards the job market.
Recognition of an MSc depends on the institution awarding it. In France, many specializations are state-certified and registered with the RNCP (Répertoire National des Certifications Professionnelles), equivalent to a level 7 qualification (2nd year postgraduate level). What’s more, some schools, such as Sup de Pub, are Qualiopi certified, guaranteeing the quality of their training courses. It is therefore important to check the specific recognition of your chosen program.
Yes, the MSc often offers internships or work-study formulas, via apprenticeship or professionalization contracts. These options enable you to gain professional experience while continuing your training. For example, schools like INSEEC regularly organize employability events (job dating, workshops) and have dedicated platforms to help students find opportunities with their partner companies. This encourages rapid integration into the job market.
Yes, there are several ways to finance an MSc. Students can take out a bank loan, often offered on advantageous terms through partnerships with schools. Self-financing is also an option, thanks to personal savings, help from parents or jobs such as internships or odd jobs. Public or private scholarships are available on the basis of social or academic criteria. Finally, for certain profiles, work-study or CPF schemes can be used to cover costs.
